When editing 1.4 you might find that there are files you are used to seeing in your theme folder that seems to have gone missing?
Magento has a new structure that works something like this. It looks for files in your theme folder, and if it cant find it will automatically try to find it in the corresponding base folder. So if you just delete your shop logo, it wont come up blank. Mage will find the logo.gif in the base folder, which will be the magento red M pic.
But dont edit the base files …… If you mess that up you will prob be in all sorts of trouble. Just copy the file from there and copy to your theme file in the same place. Turn on your dev help file finder and you will see it now calls from your theme folder and not from base anymore.
