November 18, 2018 was marked as “End of Life” of Magento 1. Magento users looked at that date with some trepidation  While it got announced several times, yet there was no formal statement about it.

As the UK’s leading hosting provider of Magento Community Edition, we’re in touch with thousands of Magento 1 users around across the world

Magento Inc. have officially announced the postponing of the end of support for Magento 1 and claimed that it won’t end in the “foreseeable future”. Magento promised to announce end of life support at least 18 months in advance. With other words: M1 users have now an open end support for their shop system and will know 18 months in advance before it will run out.

The full statement is here:-

Hi folks,

I’d like to directly address some misconceptions we’re hearing about Magento.

Magento stands behind our customers and will never leave a customer behind – you can rest assured that we have your back at every turn. Magento 1 has been and will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future. We have no intention of denying access to our world-class software and know your business relies on Magento to drive growth and differentiation for your brand.

Magento 2 is an outstanding upgrade to a world-class commerce system, and includes capabilities that improve site performance, provide better visibility into business results, and drive differentiated omnichannel commerce experiences. We are confident that every merchant will benefit from moving to Magento 2, and look forward to seeing you upgrade when the time is right for you.

Lastly, we are committing to a minimum 18-month notice before we make any changes to our support levels.  If you are not currently receiving communications from Magento, please sign up to receive information on upgrades and announcements.
